Red Arroyo Shared Pathway (R-SUP)
The Transportation Enhancement (TE) Program offers funding opportunities to help expand transportation choices and enhance the transportation experience through 12 categories of non-traditional activities related to the surface transportation system. Activities include pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure and safety programs, scenic and historic highway programs, landscaping and scenic beautification, historic preservation, and environmental mitigation.
The City of San Angelo has chosen the Red Arroyo Shared-Use Pathway as this year’s nomination project. The Red Arroyo Shared-Use Pathway will connect major traffic generators including retail businesses, indoor/outdoor activity centers, churches, parks and a library and will tie neighborhoods together. It is also in close proximity to major employers, elementary schools, and San Angelo Stadium.
This pathway would run along the Red Arroyo River and would extend from Knickerbocker Road to Sherwood Way. The pathway, approximately 3.7 miles, includes a fourteen foot overall width that would be used for bicycles and pedestrians. Amenities provided include drinking fountains, benches, and restroom facilities.
