| Construction began in January 2007 for this over 15 million dollar project to widen Sherwood Way. Because Sherwood Way is State maintained, TxDOT will be overseeing the construction. When completed, this project will widen Sherwood Way from five to seven lanes from Southwest Boulevard to the western City limits. The project also includes drainage and signal improvements. TxDOT initially proposed raised medians instead of a turn lane, with openings for left turns into high-use commercial areas. After opposition from business owners, TxDOT revised the project, removing the proposed medians but warned that an increase in vehicle accidents could force the State’s hand. The time set for completion of this project is 276 working days. June 2007:
